“Praised be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all consolation! He comforts us in all our afflictions and thus enables us to comfort those who grieve
with the same consolation we have received from him.”- From the Order of Christian Funerals
This is a new and developing ministry at our parish. We seek to accompany those grieving the loss of a loved one.
In November, on or around the Solemnity of All Souls, we will have a Memorial Mass for all parishioners, and close family of parishioners, who have died in the past year.
Throughout the month of November, families may place photos of their recently departed loved ones on the St. Joseph altar at the right side of the sanctuary. St. Joseph is the traditional intercessor for the grace of a happy death.
Prior to the winter holiday season, a presentation will be offered on Grief During the Holidays.
In January and February, a 6-week series will be offered for those who wish to process their grief in the context of their faith, and within a support group setting.
Volunteers who would like to be trained and serve in this ministry should contact the parish office.
