ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The overall goal of the Children's Choir is to foster full and active participation in the Mass through song. Musically, as a member of the choir, the children will learn the basic concepts of music theory, solfeggio, ear training, and proper vocal production. Liturgically, the children will learn the fundamentals of the Mass as we journey through the church year from Advent through Easter.  It is our hope that their participation will lead to a fuller active prayer life in our parish community and beyond.  All children in the parish and St. Steven School of Hungary grades two through eight are welcome to join.

The Children’s Choir rehearses weekly at the Church on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

The choir sings at the 5:30 PM Family Mass on the first Saturday of the month, as well as the 10AM Mass on the second and fourth Sunday of the month.

During Christmas, the children are invited to perform at the Christmas Concert, as well as the 5:30 PM Christmas Eve Mass.

In the Spring, the Children's Choir performs as part of our St. Monica Concert Series in both the  Broadway Review and Songs for Peace Concert.

The Adult Choir

Our adult choir focuses on musical collaboration and teamwork between its members. By singing together, we can foster a spirit of cooperation, mutual respect, and affection reflecting the values expressed in the gospel teachings. While choral experience is a plus, it is not necessary. All levels of experience are welcome!

Rehearsals are held Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM. On Saturday afternoons, an optional pickup rehearsal is offered at 1:00 PM. The Adult Choir sings at the 12:00 PM Mass each Sunday, as well as special liturgies throughout the liturgical year.

During Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter, we are joined by the St. Monica Chamber Ensemble. Choir members are expected to attend a minimum of two rehearsals per month.
