About the event
“How can I be thankful when I’m grieving a loss?”
“How can I celebrate Christmas when my heart is broken?”
“How do I get through this holiday season without him/her beside me?”
If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season can be especially painful. Expectations, seasonal events, and the celebration of those around us often collide with our loss and sadness. Join us for this morning of prayer, reflection, journaling, and ritual. Find comfort and hope in our faith, and in practical suggestions for navigating the holiday season.
Our presenter this year is Fr. Robert Joerger, CP, who offered our parish retreat day last April, and was very well received. Fr. Joerger is a native of Brooklyn, and a member of the Passionist religious community of priests and brothers. He holds degrees in Theology, Divinity, and Christian Spirituality, and is a certified Spiritual Director. He currently serves as a hospice chaplain, and is often seen at one of our weekend liturgies.
Please RSVP in one of these ways by Tuesday, November 15, so that we have sufficient materials prepared:
On our website – www.stelmo79.org, or
To our parish center – 212-288-6250, or
To our pastoral associate, Maryann Tyrer – mtyrer@stelmo79.org
If you haven’t already done so, you are welcome to bring a photo of your loved one to place at the St. Joseph Altar for the month of November.
