About the event
The Catholic Church embraces people of every race, language and way of life.
Theology Thursday is offering a four week series where people speak of what it means for them to be Catholic and be a part of this diversity.
Each discussion will be held in the parish center's Angelo Room at 7pm. (406 E 80th St.)
Time for discussion and questions will follow each person's talk.
MARCH 2nd - LGBTQ+ and Catholic
Fr. Michael Lynch a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn (and who grew up in St. Monica Parish) will speak about his experience with the Catholic LGBTQ+ community.
MARCH 9th - Black and Catholic
Deacon Rodney Beckford, serving at St. Charles Borromeo -Resurrection-All Saints parish in Harlem, and Director of the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Memorial Center-Harlem Catholic Charities will speak on African American Catholic experience.
MARCH 16th- Catholic at the Margins
Ms. Joanne Kennedy, Director at Mary House, speaks about her life and work as a member of the Catholic Worker movement, their engagement for human rights, peace and justice.
MARCH 23rd- Catholic and Undocumented
Ms. Dennisse Lebron speaks about her life growing up as a Dreamer, her advocacy for immigrant families and what it is like for the undocumented in our Church and our city.
