But time has taken its toll. St. Monica Church has not seen a major renovation since 2005. Peeling ceiling paint, worsening storm damage, and failing roofs threaten the beauty and safety of our sacred spaces. Below the church, the once-vibrant parish hall remains shuttered after structural damage was discovered in 2018.

The Roman Catholic Parish of St. Monica, St. Elizabeth of Hungary, and St. Stephen of Hungary has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and community in the heart of Yorkville. From humble beginnings above a feed store in 1879 to the vibrant, merged parish we are today, our story is one of resilience and grace.
2025 Captial Campaign

This is our moment to act. Through the Together on Holy Ground campaign, we are raising $6 million to restore our church, renew the parish hall, and secure our legacy for generations to come. With great care and prudence, our parish has made a significant investment of $3 million to begin the most urgent roof repairs, ensuring that the work starts in a timely manner.
The remaining $3 million must now come from the collective generosity of our parish family. Thanks to the generosity of early supporters, we’ve already raised $2 million and are inviting our entire parish family to join us.
Every gift brings us closer to preserving this sacred home and reopening the hall as a place for fellowship, ministry, and even revenue generation to sustain parish life.
Every family who participates will be honored on our Tree of Life in the renovated parish hall - a lasting testament to the faith and love that built this community.
